What is Pre-Apprenticeship?
Pre-Apprenticeships are state-approved programs that use hands-on training to teach the basics needed for working in the construction industry. They focus on safety, tool use, and trade fundamentals while building the skills and confidence needed to move into a registered apprenticeship. Program length can vary, but all are designed to give you a strong start in the trades.
When to Consider a Pre-Apprenticeship
Pre-Apprenticeships are a great option for individuals who:
- Have little to no construction experience
- Need to strengthen their math or other basic skills
- Have faced barriers to employment (such as previous incarceration)
- Need support meeting the minimum qualifications for a Registered Apprenticeship program
